i first met yage at a club owned by gareth - the then manager of a little known group called the stone roses - he was pulling all sorts of stunts on their behalf - free year membership for any journalist writing favourable reviews etc - gareth used to suck around me because I was one of the few people at the club who didn't take his shit - one day i suggested that yage and I who had become increasingly involved with video should do a two camera shoot of a forthcoming gig - he was delighted and we made preparations, borrowing two cameras from the college that yage was lecturing at in Salford - it was A friday the day of the gig - we arrived at the club to find that one of the cameras didn't work - not wanting the video shot from one angle we decided to leave - halfway to the door a friend asked where we were going - we explained what had happened - he shrugged his shoulders and said 'shit band anyway'
