we'd sold jumpin + pumpin the album for 1500 buck - fsol weren't doing well enough to justify an album - we'd thought obviously about our own label but had concluded we couldn't be arsed and that at the crunch we didn't really believe in tracks that solidly anyway - tracks were ten a penny - in the meantime we were prepared to be pushed around by loveable barrow boy Les who owned j+p - he was a renegade in his own way - he had a gold embroided table with his name on it and ended calls with 'good luck to you' - he handed the cheque over for 1500 as if he felt sorry for us and was helping us out - dance albums were impossible to get into the shops at this time -no-one was interested - the first presale was 750 - Les went against the industries lack of belief anyway - he sat on it for a year - finally Papua was a hit and shops saw the light - by which time we hated it and thought we'd been ripped
